As a therapist, I am trained and qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and I work online across the UK.
CBT is a talking therapy that focuses on the principle that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all interconnected. During times of personal crisis or emotional stress, negative thoughts and feelings can trap us in a negative cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems by breaking them down into smaller parts and changing negative thinking patterns into something more balanced, positive and helpful, allowing you to develop techniques, tools and strategies to help prevent these negative cycles occurring again.
My aim from the very first time we meet is to ensure you feel comfortable, secure and at ease enough for you to be able to share the reasons you have decided to access therapy at this time, as well as discovering what your goals and expectations are regarding counselling.
Working at a pace that you are comfortable with, we will explore your core beliefs, unhealthy thinking patterns and behaviours in regards to your presenting issues that may be perpetuating your circumstances.
Over the course of our time together we will work collaboratively in enabling you to learn a series of tools, techniques and strategies that you will be able to take away and use on your own in your day-to-day life.
I firmly believe that you are the expert on yourself: You know your own self best.
By contrast; I know relevant techniques, tools and strategies that will benefit you and enable you to make the progress you deserve.
